3/4 cup sugarsugar
1 cup flourflour
3 tablespoons cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powderbaking-powder
1/4 teaspoon saltsalt
1/2 cup milkmilk
1/3 cup butter (melted)butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanillavanilla
1/2 cup sugarsugar
1 1/2 cups light brown sugarbrown-sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 1/2 cups hot waterwater

Instructions (10 steps)

01Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
02Combine the 3/4 cup sugar, flour,3 Tbl cocoa, baking powder and salt.
03Blend in milk, butter and vanilla.
04Beat until smooth.
05Pour into 8x8 or 9x9 pan.

Mix 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar and 4 Tbl cocoa in a small bowl.

07Sprinkle in an even layer over top of batter.

08Pour hot water over everything in pan.

09Bake for 35-40 minutes.

10Let stand 15 minutes and serve warm.
