Trim the excess fat from the roast. Sprinkle the roast on all sides with the garlic powder mixture. Place the roast in the prepared pan. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 50 minutes.
04For the sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onion in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup. honey, Hoisin sauce, mustard, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger and five-spice powder. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the sauce is reduced to 3/4 cup, about 20-25 minutes, stirring often. When done remove from heat.
05After 50 minutes of bake time brush the sauce over the pork. Return the roast to the oven and bake at 350 F for 10-15 minutes longer or until a thermometer reads 145 F. Remove the pan from the oven, tent the roast with a piece of aluminum foil and allow the roast to rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. Serve roast with remaining sauce on the side.
