2 cups Flourflour
2 Tablespoons Sugarsugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powderbaking-powder
¾ teaspoons Saltsalt
½ cups Butter, (one Stick) Slightly Softenedbutter
1 whole Large Eggegg
⅔ cups Milkmilk

Instructions (6 steps)

01Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, use a fork to mix the dry ingredients. Cut the butter into the mixture until it forms coarse crumbles (do not stir). (If using add-ins, mix with the coarse flour crumbles now.)
02In a cup, mix egg and milk. Stir milk mixture into the flour mixture, just until blended. Drop batter by 1/4 cup, about 1 inch apart onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until scones are golden brown. Serve them warm or wrap in foil to reheat later.
03Serves: 12 Calories per serving: 150 (basic scone)
