Ingredients (8)

2 cups flourflour
1/2 cup sugar, dividedsugar
2 teaspoons baking powderbaking-powder
1/2 teaspoon saltsalt
1 cup milkmilk
1 egg, slightly beatenegg
1/4 cup butter, meltedbutter
12 strawberries, slicedstrawberry

Instructions (5 steps)

01Heat oven to 425°; grease 12 muffin cups.
02Combine flour, 1/4 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl; stir in the milk, egg and butter, stirring only enough to dampen all the flour, the batter should not be smooth.
03Spoon into prepared muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
04Press strawberry slices into the batter, pointed side up; sprinkle each muffin with 1 teaspoon sugar.
05Bake until golden, 15-18 minutes.
