1 cup packed brown sugarbrown-sugar
3/4 cup shorteningshortening
1 eggegg
1/4 cup molassesmolasses
2 1/4 cups flourflour
2 teaspoons baking sodabaking-soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamoncinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ground gingerginger
1/2 teaspoon ground clovesclove
1/4 teaspoon saltsalt
granulated sugarsugar

Instructions (8 steps)

01Heat oven to 375*.
02Mix brown sugar, shortening, egg, and molasses in a bowl.
03Mix in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar.
04Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls, dip in granulated sugar.
05Place balls, sugared sides up, about 3" apart on greased cookie sheet.

06Bake just until set, 10 to 12 mins.

07Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

08Enjoy!
