1 cup sugarsugar
1/2 cup shorteningshortening
1 cup pumpkinpumpkin
1 egg, beatenegg
2 1/4 cups flourflour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powderbaking-powder
1 teaspoon cinnamoncinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspiceallspice
1/4 teaspoon clove, groundclove
1/4 teaspoon ginger, groundginger
1/2 teaspoon saltsalt
1 teaspoon vanilla extractvanilla-extract
1 cup raisins (optional)
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions (7 steps)

01Cream together sugar and shortening.
02Add pumpkin and egg and mix well.
03Sift together dry ingredients and add to the wet mixture, mix well.
04Stir in vanilla.

05Add raisins and nuts if desired.

06Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet.

07Bake at 375° for 10 minutes or till light brown.
