4 -5 lbs ground chuckground-beef
1 cup waterwater
3 large onions, choppedonion
2 (29 ounce) cans tomato saucetomato-sauce
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato pastetomato-paste
4 teaspoons pepperpepper
4 bay leavesbay-leaf
1/2 cup sugarsugar
6 teaspoons red wine vinegarred-wine-vinegar
3 teaspoons saltsalt
6 teaspoons chili powderchili-powder
2 teaspoons garlic powdergarlic-powder
1 teaspoon oreganooregano

Instructions (5 steps)

01Mix all ingredients except for the bay leaves together until smooth. DO NOT BROWN THE GROUND CHUCK. This is what makes the texture so fine.
02Cook over medium low heat until meat is browned stirring frequently. Place bay leaves on top.
03Cover and simmer on low heat for 3 hours. Stir occasionally.
