6 medium potatoes (about 2 lbs.)potato
1/2 head cabbage, shredded (about 3 cups)cabbage
6 scallions, choppedscallion
1/4 cup waterwater
1/4 teaspoon saltsalt
1/3 cup milkmilk
1/4 cup butterbutter
1 teaspoon saltsalt
pepperpepper

Instructions (5 steps)

01Peel the potatoes, cut into 1" chunks.Boil or steam the potatoes in salted water until fork tender, about 30 minutes. , drain.
02Steam the cabbage, scallions, 1/4 cup water and 1/8 tsp.salt to boiling, reduce heat and cook until crisp-tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.
03To the potatoes, add the milk, 1 teaspoons salt, pepper. and butter. Mash until smooth.
04Stir in cabbage and scallions.
05Dot with butter and serve. (Don't forget to tuck a coin in for luck!).
