1 can 28 oz (796 ml) whole tomatoestomato
1 onion, finely choppedonion
1 clove garlic, finely choppedgarlic
2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oilolive-oil
Salt and peppersalt-and-pepper

Instructions (3 steps)

01Basic Tomato Sauce: Pour can in a bowl and crush tomatoes with clean hands.
02In a saucepan, cook onion with garlic in oil over medium heat, without browning. Season with salt and pepper.
03Add tomatoes. Stir and bring to a boil. Let simmer for about 30 minutes. Adjust seasoning. Watch out for splashes! You can use a splatter screen to place on the saucepan.
