This recipe was given to me many years ago by Mrs. Orin Stevens of Fargo, ND. She told me she'd gotten it from a church cookbook. I've used fresh, frozen and canned peaches with equal success.

3 cups peaches, peeled, pitted and slicedpeach
1 1/2 cups sugar, dividedsugar
1 cup flourflour
1 teaspoon baking powderbaking-powder
1/4 teaspoon saltsalt
1/2 cup margarinemargarine
1/2 teaspoon vanillavanilla
1/2 cup milkmilk
1/2 cup waterwater

Instructions (8 steps)

01Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan and line with peaches.
02Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, margarine, vanilla and milk.
03Stir till smooth.
04Pour over peaches.
05Combine 1 cup sugar and water.
06Pour over batter.
