Quite a while back, I was visiting my friend Katy, and started flipping through pages of her Kenmore microwave book. At that time I was "playing" with all kinds of Chinese recipes, so I copied this recipe for hoisin sauce. I've had a request to post it here on Zaar.

8 ounces beef brothbeef-broth
4 ounces soy saucesoy-sauce
4 ounces dry sherrysherry
2 tablespoons arrowroot or 2 tablespoons cornstarchcornstarch
2 tablespoons molassesmolasses
2 tablespoons tomato pastetomato-paste
2 cloves garlic, finely mincedgarlic
1/2 teaspoon ground gingerginger
1/8 teaspoon black pepperpepper

Instructions (3 steps)

01Combine all ingredients in a 4 cup glass microwaveable container and stir well.
02Cover with plastic and cook on high power for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes or until thickened.
03This makes about 1 3/4 cups sauce.
