1/4 cup ancho chile powderancho-chile-powder
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, tightly packeddark-brown-sugar
2 tablespoons smoked paprikasmoked-paprika
2 tablespoons kosher saltsalt
1 tablespoon ground cumincumin

Instructions (2 steps)

01In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients thoroughly, massaging the mixture with your fingers to break down the dark brown sugar into fine crystals.
02Liberally sprinkle a thin layer of the rub onto the steak, then pat it in with your fingers so it adheres.
