Ingredients (10)

2 cups flourflour
2 tablespoons sugarsugar
2 teaspoons baking powderbaking-powder
1/2 teaspoon saltsalt
1/2 teaspoon baking sodabaking-soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmegnutmeg
1/2 cup cold butterbutter
1 cup raisinsraisins
3/4 cup buttermilkbuttermilk
1 egg white, additional sugar for topegg

Instructions (10 steps)

01Combine dry ingredients.
02Cut in butter to coarse crumbs.
03Stir in raisins and buttermilk.
04Stir just until moistened.
05Place on floured surface,knead a few times (6-8).
06Pat into an 8in circle,cut into 12 wedges.

07Place on greased cookie sheet.

08Beat egg white until foamy, brush scones.

09Sprinkle with sugar.

10Bake at 400* for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
