Ingredients (12)

1 cup unsalted butter, softenedbutter
1 cup brown sugar, packedbrown-sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugarsugar
2 eggsegg
1 teaspoon baking sodabaking-soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extractvanilla-extract
1 pinch saltsalt
2 cups old fashioned oats, uncooked
1 cup all-purpose flourflour
1 cup whole wheat flourflour
1 (12 ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chipschocolate-chips
1 cup sunflower seedssunflower-seeds

Instructions (10 steps)

01Preheat oven to 375 degrees F, & lightly grease cookie sheets OR line them with parchment paper.
02In large bowl, beat butter, sugars & eggs until light & fluffy.
03Beat in baking soda, vanilla & salt.

Blend in oats & flours to make stiff dough.

05Stir in chocolate chips.

06Shape mounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls.

07Roll balls in sunflower seeds.

08Place balls 2" apart on prepared cookie sheets.

09Bake 8-10 minutes or until firm, but DO NOT OVERBAKE!

10Leave on cookie sheets, & let cool 2 minutes, before transfering cookies to wire rack to cool completely.
