Quakers abhor violence, and many abjure alcohol, although most believe in 'temperance' rather than 'abstinence'. However, they have no objections to double entendres. This is a lovely, refreshing summer time drink. I made it by the gallon for an August wedding last year and it was a big hit.

Ingredients (8)

3 sprigs of fresh mintfresh-mint
1 teaspoon fresh grated gingerginger
2 tea bagstea
3 1/2 cups boiling waterwater
2 cups cold waterwater
1/2 cup sugarsugar
3 lemons, juice oflemon
3 oranges, juice oforange

Instructions (9 steps)

01Bruise the mint.
02Add the ginger and teabags.
03Pour over the boiling water, cover and steep for 6 or 7 minutes.
04Strain and discard the solids.
05Meanwhile, heat the remaining water and sugar just until the sugar is dissolved.
06Mix with the tea brew.
