1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, drainedtomato
1 lb ground beefground-beef
1 medium onion, choppedonion
3 (13 3/4 ounce) cans beef brothbeef-broth
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can kidney beanskidney-beans
1/2 medium cabbage, choppedcabbage
2 tablespoons tomato paste (optional)tomato
salt and peppersalt-and-pepper

Instructions (6 steps)

01Chop the tomatoes and reserve the juice.
02Brown the beef with the onions.
03Drain the fat.
04Add the beef broth, beans, tomatoes, and juice and tomatoe paste if desired.
05Add the cabbage, and simmer till tender.
06Add salt and pepper.
